Travel Vaccinations
If you are planning to travel outside of the UK you may need to be vaccinated against of the serious diseases found in other parts of the world, that are not covered under the NHS routine vaccination schedule.
The vaccinations free on the NHS and available at this surgery are:
- Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio
- Typhoid
- Hepatitis A
- Cholera (prescription is required)
The vacations you need to pay privately are as follows,
- Hepatitis B
- Japanese Encephalitis
- Meningitis
- Rabies
- Tick-born encephalitis
- Tuberculosis
- Yellow Fever
This list may not be exhaustive.
Please note, however, that our GP contract DOES NOT cover travel risk assessments or advice. For this, we recommend seeking assistance from a private travel assessor, which usually incurs a small fee.
Requirements for NHS Travel Vaccinations:
In order for our practice to administer the free NHS vaccinations, we require a proper travel risk assessment form completed by a private assessor. This form should include:
- Travel destination,
- Travel periods,
- Risk assessments (such as medication risks given your current medications),
- Planned activities,
- Required vaccinations for your location.
This document must be dated and signed by the travel risk assessor. We only accept the complete and proper risk assessment form to ensure patient safety.
For your risk assessment to be completed, you may need to have accessible the following information:
- Your vaccination history
- A list of your repeat medications
