Our New Recall System for Annual Reviews – Abtrace
We are pleased to introduce a new recall system at Downing Drive Surgery called Abtrace.
Abtrace is a digital system that works alongside our existing clinical records to help us identify patients who are due or overdue for important health checks, monitoring, and reviews. It allows us to manage these recalls more efficiently and helps us make sure patients are contacted at the appropriate time.
What does this mean for you?
If you are due a routine health check, review or monitoring appointment, you may receive a message from the practice inviting you to arrange this.
Depending on the type of recall, this may include:
- Routine monitoring for long-term conditions
- Blood tests and other monitoring
- Medication monitoring
- Health checks and reviews
- Vaccination invitations
- Other routine care that you are due
Abtrace can help us identify what care you are due and, where appropriate, send you an invitation to arrange an appointment. You will then be able to book an appointment online, at a time and day most convenient for you.
Why are we introducing Abtrace?
Our aim is to make our recall system more proactive, organised, and reliable.
Previously, recalls have involved staff running searches and manually working through patient lists. Abtrace helps us keep these lists up to date and identify patients who need to be contacted.
This means our practice team can spend more time focusing on patient care, while helping to reduce the chance of routine monitoring being missed.
What do patients need to do?
Nothing unless we contact you.
If you receive a message from Downing Drive Surgery asking you to arrange a health check, blood test, review, or other appointment, please follow the instructions in the message.
If you have already had the relevant test or review elsewhere, or you believe you have recently completed the requested monitoring, please let us know so that we can update your records where necessary.
Will my information be safe?
Abtrace works alongside our existing clinical system, including TPP SystmOne, and is designed to read and update information within the practice’s clinical record. Abtrace is NHS Digital approved and UKCA marked, with information security and medical-device quality certifications.
